Activity Theme Party Ideas

An Activity Party is a great idea for this time of year. Not just for couples, this can be done for anyone moving into a new place, or redoing an old one. Two hands are better than one, and a group is even faster. So, let's get busy!

Ideas for hosting an Activity Theme Party
• Paint interior walls and trim. Have everyone chip in for paint
• Paint, assemble, or refinish furniture
• Mow the lawn, weed the garden, and plant flowers.
• Organize any room or closets, etc. that need it.
• Help make wedding favors
Anything to make life easier, is what this theme is all about.

Start with your invitations. Select a design that relates to the activity you've chosen. For instance, garden utensils, if you're going to fix up the yard. Tell guests to wear comfortable clothes, that might get dirty.

Decorations: although this is an informal theme, liven it up with a "Welcome, or Surprise" banner, and colorful balloons. Depending on your activity, that may be enough. Use paper items for food, drink, and easy clean up. See a variety of paper goods

It's always fun to give out favors. In this case, it's also an extra "thank you" for any work done. Give an item related to your project. A soothing lotion or candle, may also work.

Have plenty of cold drinks available...soda, punch, bottled water. Don't forget the ice!
Here's a quick easy recipe.

Lemonade Spritzer
Ingredients:
• 6 oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
• 6 oz. can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
• 1/2 cup cold water
• 1 liter bottle lemon lime flavored carbonated beverage, chilled
Preparation:
Mix cold water and concentrates, thoroughly. Next, add carbonated beverage. Serve immediately. Makes 6 servings

Snacks
Sit around bowls of chips, pretzels and dip. Set out a fruit plate, and cheese and crackers.

When it's time to take a break for the main meal, keep it simple. Prepare the following ahead of time, (as many as you need)and just bake.

Easy Pizza Margherita
• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 tablespoon basil Leaves
• 1 prepared pizza crust (12-inch)
• 1/2 cup pizza sauce
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
• 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 2 plum tomatoes, sliced
• 1/4 cup sliced red or green bell pepper
• 1/4 cup sliced black olives
Preheat your oven to 450°F. Mix together the olive oil and basil leaves, and let stand for 5 minutes. Put pizza crust on a baking sheet. Brush 1/2 of the olive oil mixture over the pizza crust. Spread pizza sauce over the crust. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese and black pepper, over the sauce. Drizzle remaining oil mixture over the pizza. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Top with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, bell pepper, olives and tomato slices. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Makes 6 (1-slice) servings.

Side Dish
Prepare a large tossed salad ahead of time. Set out a variety of dressings.

What’s for Dessert?
Cool Whip and Fruit: Your guests will love this great tasting, easy dessert.
You can serve Cool Whip, as is, or add choclate cocoa powder. Put in a bowl. Surround with banana slices and strawberries. Dip into the Cool Whip. You can use toothpicks for handling the fruit.

Music: Gear music towards the guests. If it's a mixed group, play a variety. If you're all about the same age, you may want to play a particular type of music, or certain decade.

An activity theme is actually a fun theme that all involved will enjoy. So, give it a try!
